Hobert and higgs counted the boys and girls at the assembly. there were 179 students and 13 more boys than girls. how many boys were present?

Assume x = girls, x+13 = boys

x + x + 13 = 179
2x = 166
x = 83 (girls)

83+13=96 (boys)

96 boys were present.
